United Way is an organization that accepts donations and hosts events to fundraise local communities. As a Sauk student, you can even donate cans this semester to help this program out. Amanda Wike, Executive Director of United Way, has given some information to know about this program.

By donating, you, and others, can provide necessary funds for organizations. United Way provides lunches to younger individuals during the summer, funds 2-1-1, and runs many more organizations.

To donate cans, the recycle bags are located right next to the testing center on the first floor. There is a sign reading “Yes You Can!” Students and faculty can donate plastic bottles, cans, and other single-use plastics.

This program was built over 60 years ago to help communities. It was designed to help reduce the amount of fundraisers in the communities to help organizations come together.

This program also helps out programs that are in need of funds. There are volunteer opportunities that anyone can sign up for. Many of these opportunities are close to SVCC, all around Lee County, so students, and others, can help.

“Everybody gives, Everybody Benefits” is the slogan of this helpful program. Fundraising together is more powerful than fundraising individually. The United Way Fundraisers can help people come together as a community.

Those who want to donate money can sign up for monthly donations, one time donations, or set up your bank card to round up change during transactions.
